Vacation to Florida
Drove to St. Auguestine - visited the Fountain of Life, and Fort Matanza National Monument. It was quite impressive. The Constalation light show in at the Fountain of Life was quite nice. We also visited the Presidio which is the old walled city that was the original town. It is now largely a tourist district with shops, but there are a few very old buildings there.
We drove on down to Cape Canaveral and took the tour there. I remember seeing the IBM computer tucked inside the Saturn V module that was part of the Appolo space vehichle. We visited Connie's uncle who had recently retired from NASA. We had a nice dinner at a bar-b-q place there in Cocoa, FL where he lived.
We drove on down to Daytona and visited the speedway.
Then we drove over to Orlando and visited the theme parks. While we were there, I go word that Alex Simpson had died. The funeral was the next day and the only way for me to go would be to fly home, then fly back to Orland to drive the family home. I didn't go.
It was terribly hot at the parks. The mirror on the windsheild fell off because the glue got so hot. I was really glad to get out of there, and hope to never go back. I have no use for Orlando, thanks to IBM sending me there for so many confernces and for the two times I went there to the parks on vacation.
