Gettysburg WeekendDecember 2, 3, 4th - Mark, Alex & Matthew tour the Gettysburg battlefield. We left on Friday evening about 4PM and drove to Chambersburg, PA, arriving about 9:30 PM. We stayed over night at the Hampton Inn.
We left the hotel about 8AM and drove straight to the Gettysburg Battlefield Visitor's Center and Museum. We saw the movie and then the Cyclorama and then spent the rest of the morning touring the museum. We ate lunch and then at 1PM we took the guided tour. That last a little more than two hours and was very informative. After the tour, we walked through the national cemetary and then drove over to Culp's Hill which was not a part of the tour. From there we went to Devil's Den where Matthew had a big time. Then we went to dinner at the Gettysburg Family Restaurant.
We checked into the Hilton Garden Inn and watched a little bit of the movie Gettysburg on Youtube and then watched the first half the Big10 Championship. All around a terrific dat!
Eternal Flame on Oak Hill.. where Carter's Artillery was well positioned to fire on the federals. Also an excellent location for General Rodes to take in the battle of the first day.
