June 2009 - Chicago & Ill.Just Connie & I spent three day in Chicago and then another day in Lockport and Joliet. The final day was visiting the Auburn, Cord, Deusenburg Museum in Auburn, IN.
Here are some of things I hoped to do:
- Take a cruise on the 4 masted schooner, Tall Shp
Windy.
- Trying different food - Taste of Chicago will be going on so that should be easy.
- Showing Connie some of the Chicago Pedway where you
can get around under ground.
- Drive on old Route 66.
- Visit a jazz bar / restaurant
We did all of these except the jazz bar/resaurant, although we did hear some jazz at the Taste of Chicgo.
We did a lot more than this list and had a lot of fun.
It was fun riding the train in and out of Chicago. We walked a lot (A LOT!) on the first day and quite a lot on the second day. Our legs were sore the rest of the week.
Monday June 29 - Walking tour of downtown Chicago, Navy Pier (two boat rides)
Tuesday June 30 - Science & Industry Museum, Shed Aquarium, Taste of Chicago
Wednesday July 1 - Oak Park, Glencoe, Highland Park, and Evanston (Brian O'Quinn)
Thursday July 2 - Lockport, Joliet and drive down Rt 66
Friday July 3 - Auburn Cord Duesenburg Museum and drive home.
