Glacier Vacation Wednesday
- Day 1
Wednesday, August 21, 2019
Fly to Kalispel, Montana, rent a car and drive to Going to
the Sun Motor Lodge in Glacier National Park. We drove on
route 2 along the southern edge of the park. The route
basically follows the BNSF (former Great Northern) railway.
The Great Northern Railway built the three notable lodges in
the area, McDonald Lake Lodge, Glacier Park Lodge, Many
Glacier Lodge and Prince of Wales lodge in Canada.
The cabin we were in was very small. Probably the smallest
bathroom I've experienced. The sink (a micro sink) wasn't
even in the bathroom, it was in the bedroom. There was no air
conditioning (it was in the 80s). There were two open windows
with screens and a good fan, so we slept OK. It was clean,
but pretty spartan. We at dinner and breakfast at
the restaurant. The food was good and plentiful, but not
cheap.

The view of Lake St.
Marys from one of the lodges at Going To The Sun Motor
Lodge. This was about the only place you could see the
lake from the lodge.
