Stand Tang Repair
 A common problem on the /5s is that the tang that is used to put the center stand up and down breaks off. This was the case with this bike.
It is more of a problem than with other bikes that seldom use the center stands, as most people like to use the center stand all the time with these, to avoid the plume of oil smoke when you start one after it sits on the the side stand when warm.
I crafted a new tang out of 3/16" round stock and welded it on. I used an acetylene torch to weld and to heat and bend it to the proper shape.
