Vacation October 21, 2020
We drove down Route 23 through Kentucky. We stopped
in Jenkins, Neon Junction, and Neon. Neon Junction is where
Connie's grandfather had a store. The building is still
there. I wish I had taken a photo of it.
We stopped at the Natural Bridge State Park in
Virginia (near Duffield, VA). It is an interesting geologic
site for sure.

This is the boardwalk
going up to the tunnel area, and a panoramic view up to
the top of the area.

Here are the tracks
headed for the natural tunnel (they go through a short
man made tunnel just before this.
|
|
Looking into the tunnel. It is
curved so you can't see the end of the tunnel.

It is difficult to get a photo that represents the
whole thing. Go there an see it for yourself! We
continued on through Kingston, TN, and on to Johnson City,
TN. Only because I had never been to either city. Can't say
that I missed a lot, although the country side is pretty
enough. The vegetation that doesn't change colors in the fall
was all very green. It's been a fairly wet fall there
apparently, just like we've had at home. We
stayed overnight at the Doubletree in Johnson City, TN. Had a
great steak dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. We usually get the
big cowboy ribeye (something like 23 ounces) and split it.
