2014 Vacation
Oct 18
We drove up to Tomball, TX to visit my sister Spring and her husband, Guy. Once we toured the house we decided to go to the
Texas
Renaissance Festival which is just up the road in Magnolia, TX.
This turned out to be some experience.
We were stunned with the number of people attending. We were in parking lot row # 19. There easily 100 cars in a row. Most every car had two or more people in them. I don't know how many people attended, but it was A LOT!
Maybe half of the people had some sort of costume on. Most of them had some semblance of being from the Renaissance age. Some of them were just costumes. There were some costumes that were quite authentic looking, but that was a small fraction of the people attending. I would guess that at least half were like us, dressed in ordinary street clothes and just there to gawk. But the folks who were dressed up, were quite happy to have us gawk..That is why they dressed up. If you wanted to take someone's photo all you had to do was ask..They were happy to have their photo taken.. again, that is why they were dressed up.
I was sort of stunned to the point that I didn't know what to take a picture of. There was so much that was bizzar and really rather sad, that I only took a couple of pictures. Fotunately Connie took a few.

After walking all over the place, we came across this small patch of bamboo. Why they had bamboo growing there is anyone's guess. It seemed to be a quite health patch of bamboo. Uncle Guy noticed it, and wanted to have his photo taken in front of the bamboo. We were happy to oblige.
We should have gotten Spring's picture as well, but I think we were sort of in a state of shock the whole time we were at the Renaissance Festival.

It seemed like a good idea, so Connie & I had our picture take there too!
