Mom's Bird

I've titled this page "Mom's Bird" because this bird that I saw this weekend (Aug 12, 2007) made be think of my mother. She was so excited to have seen a Pileated Woodpecker here at my house and she was always on the lookout for interesting wildlife she might see.
This bird was a curious one. It looked like a heron but certainly not a great blue heron, and it flew up into a tree. I've never seen a great blue heron be up in a tree (maybe they do, but I've seen many of them and never one in a tree). Anyway, I think my mother would have enjoyed seeing this guy and figuring out what it was. I believe its a green heron. The yellow legs are the tip off.
