I met Johnny at Marion Correctional Institute. He is a believer and had obviously been studying scripture. I asked him how old he is. 50. Practically the same age as me. He said he'd been in and out of prison all of his life. I asked him when he came to believe in Christ. He said, "Three hitches ago." He was on his third trip to prison since he'd become a believer. He knew what I was thinking and explained that when he was released, he had good intentions and then would meet a woman, and that situation would become challenging & frustrating and he'd turn to drugs. He said, "I just haven't been able kick the drugs."

He went on to say that he's really been wrestling with what he's going to do differnt the next time he gets out. He said his parents died while he was in prison, and he realized that his life is wasting away in prison.

We then talked about how he needs to get plugged into a church and have Christian friends when he gets out.

Who knows what the result will be, but it was a blessing to share with a Christian man who is striving to follow Christ more closely. I'm praying for him that he will be able to live for Christ on the outside.
