Shooting December 1, 2020

Got to shoot a little bit today. It was 34 degree F and windy so I didn't spend a lot of time, although I was shooting from inside the garage so I was out of the wind, except when I was at the target. Distance is about 50 yards.

An article that I read noted how quiet the Gauntlet is. Not mine! It's pretty loud, especially in comparison to the Marauder and the Gamo (and I just realized I need to do a page on the Gamo)

Here are the results

You can see I was shoot JSB Exact Heavy Diablo, 33.95 grains. These things really whack.
The first magazine (8 rounds) was shot at the center target, so the gun is hitting slightly high and left. I don't know what happened with the two flyers that were way low and outside. Maybe a strong gust of wind. I don't think I pulled them that badly.

The second magazine (9 rounds) was at the target just above the center first, and then the rest at the target to the right of it. Hence the one shot off to the left. I decided to change to the target further right to better separate any strays. The second group didn't have the flyers like the first group, and you can see that there are four or five rounds in a very tight group. I'd say that's what the gun is doing. I was shooting while sitting in a chair. Not off a bench, so my hold is definitely a factor here.

Here's the stump that I was shooting into. The splotches of white are from when I was shooting my Daisy 853 at 10 meters. The .177 pellets bounced off, just leaving some of the target board splatters on the stump. You can see that the Gauntlet, at about double the distance bury's the .25 pellet in the stump.

Here a close up. It's a little hard to see, but the pellets are buried flush in the stump. This is shooting into the end grain of a spruce stump.
