53. Henry Livingston BOYD was born on Sep 1, 1838. He died on Jul 13, 1903 in Loveland, , Colorado. "Raised in the home of his uncle, John Wesley Boyd, he went to live with his aunt, Eleanor boyd, when she moved to Marion in 1857. At the time of the Civil War, he enlisted in the 4th regiment of the Ohio National Guard where he rose to the rank of major. In 1866, after his discharge, he took up 'soldier land' given to him by the government. He located near Loveland, Colorado and raised sheep, later going quite extensively into cattle raising with his brother, Joseph John Boyd. There is a large recreational area near Loveland named 'Boyd Lake' for these two brothers. He married Marian Alford on Jan. 1, 1874. Henry Boyd was always referred to as 'the major' by his children."-E. Berkshire

According to Mr. Doug Will, the manager of the Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland CO., the lake was named after "a Major Boyd by the irrigation company." Appearantly, the lake was built by an irrigation company, and for some reason unkown to Mr. Will and the irrigation company of today, named after "major Boyd". (MB 8-1-93).

Henry Livingston BOYD and Marian ALFORD were married on Jan 1, 1874 in Loveland, , Colorado. Marian ALFORD was born on Jan 3, 1851. She died about 1940.
