The cockpit fuel locker, before cleaning

I've been cleaning here and there on the boat. I cleaned the starboard side cockpit locker (fuel tank comparment) and the seat. I also cleaned all around the rear of the cockpit. I need to remove the port side locker seat and clean that and clean inside the locker.

I want to paint the under side of these seats and the under side of the companionway cover. I think the gloss paint will make them more resistant to mold, or at least easier to get clean.

I also need to vacuum and then mop everthing inside the cabin. Its gotten cold, so the mopping will have to wait, but I could still do the vacuuming.

Its 55F outside today so I took the opportunity to do a little cleaning in on the boat out in the garage. See the before and after photos below.

I cleaned the cabin cushions today. The weather was perfect for it. Of course the weather was perfect for sailing too. Maybe I should have done that.


First I washed the cushions with laundry detergent and water. I simply scrubbed them with a rag.	Next I rinsed them with a hose.

Next, vacuum the water out with the shop vac.	Finally, dry in the sun and breeze. They dried very quickly.

When I put the cushions into the boat, I discovered that one of them still had some water in the center of the foam cushion. If you simply ran your hand over them, they seemed dry. But when you squished the cushion, it was wet in the center. So I left them draped over the boat over night with the fan running on them.
